At the Bay Area Tutoring Centers, Inc., we take pride in our staff, and we realize that a knowledgeable, highly-trained staff of tutors is essential to the success of our students. Therefore, each tutor is carefully screened, assessed and thoroughly trained before working with students.
Meet Our Staff
Each of our tutors fosters a love of learning and sharing knowledge. In our hiring process we look not only for scholarship and experience, but also for openness, patience, and friendliness. Our students’ comfort is of highest importance to us, and all of our tutors reflect Bay Area Tutoring Centers’ devotion to creating a supportive, inspirational learning environment.
Isaac
Isaac completed his studies in pure math, with a concentration in teaching at the University of California, Berkeley. He has also studied economics and programming. His specialties include elementary math, algebra, geometry and pre-calculus. From an early age, Isaac has shared his love for mathematics with classmates, friends, and family. He enjoys having conversations about math (of course) but also likes chatting about logic, science fiction, and anime.
Lars
Lars is studying physics and French at the University of California, Berkeley. His specialties include elementary math, algebra, geometry and SAT/ACT/SAT II. Lars enjoys cooking a variety of dishes, but has the most fun creating delicious desserts. He also likes playing Dungeons and Dragons and other tabletop games in his free time.
Matt
Matt completed his studies in mathematics at the University of Michigan. His specialties include elementary math, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus and calculus. Matt loves rock climbing, especially indoor bouldering. He is also a very competitive video gamer and has even held world records in Mario Cart and Guitar Hero!
Aren
Aren completed his studies in Physics at the University of California, Santa Cruz. His specialties include physics and math. Aren enjoys traveling around the world (15 countries and counting!), playing guitar/bass/percussion, learning about nature, and hanging out with his two cats. He has kept aquariums since he was 12 years old and has over 100 fish!
Albert
Albert completed his studies in molecular and cell biology at the University of California, Berkeley. His specialties include physical science, biology and chemistry. Albert loves playing soccer and enjoys cooking. His dream is to travel to Italy and learn to make the best bowl of pasta ever made!
Sam
Sam completed his studies in molecular and cell biology: neuroscience at the University of California, Berkeley. His specialties include physical science, biology and chemistry. Sam enjoys riding his motorcycle and running, but also loves staying home all day reading, cooking and playing video games (Sam contains multitudes). A fun fact: Sam can recognize any pre-movie Spongebob quote!
Diana
Diana completed her studies in English (with a secondary teaching certification) at Swarthmore College, and in English literature and creative writing at San Francisco State University. Her specialties include English, language arts, literature, reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, and SAT/ACT. Diana cannot pass a bookstore without going in, she cannot leave without buying a book, and all her bookshelves are full.
Carmen
Carmen completed her studies in Art History at Mills College. Her specialties include English, language arts, literature, reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, history (U.S., World, European) and SAT/ACT. Carmen is an avid gardener who loves to grow her own food, from peaches to potatoes. In her free time, in addition to gardening, she enjoys painting and trail running.
Homayoon
Homayoon is the President of Bay Area Tutoring Centers, Inc. He studied biophysics at the University of California, Berkeley. His specialties include trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, physics, and SAT/ACT/SAT II. Homayoon has been a serious Trekkie since the age of 8. His daughters fondly refer to him as "Bobzilla."
Rhiannon
Rhiannon is the Operations Manager at Bay Area Tutoring Centers, Inc. She completed her studies in psychology at California State University, Chico and in business administration at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. Rhiannon loves Bay Area sports, especially the San Francisco Giants!
